NOHO: Groundwork Coffee

Groundwork Coffee unveiled their North Hollywood location a this past February. The location sits between the Orange Line & Red Line and built into the Historic Train Depot. I went to high school in North Hollywood and let's just say... give or take 5-10 years ago, North Hollywood wasn't a destination. Unless you're looking for Yum Yum Donuts or Big Time Burger.

With the new development happening in the Arts District, North Hollywood is actually a full service hangout with food, art, & entertainment.

Some must order items are the Breakfast Tacos (Chino Valley Ranchers™ scrambled eggs, sweet potatoes, queso fresco, avocado, picked red onions, chipotle aioli, corn tortillas, harissa hot sauce) & Short Rib Hash (Chino Valley Ranchers™ poached egg, Bitches Brew short ribs, sweet potatoes, organic spinach, green onion, togarashi, harissa hollandaise).

PALMDALE: Pops & Poppies

I went home to visit my parents for my dad's birthday. As I get older, I've started to appreciate a few thing that I, so to speak, took for granted. Those things include, naps, time to myself, and time with my family. I try to visit home once a month and I'm always at a loss with what suitcase I should bring. My suitcases range from duffle bag to ginormous European excursion size.

Thankfully my friends at Calpak stepped in and upgraded my luggage. Naturally, I picked the all around fave, milky suitcase.

The suitcases are so incredibly well made. Literally live up to all the hype. My favorite thing about the carry on is that the left side zips all the contents in! Now all of my things don't go flying when I shut my suitcase. Can't wait to see how many places I can take these swanky suitcases.

One of my FAVORITE spots to visit in Palmdale is the aqueduct. It's a windy mess and is freezing - two of my least favorite things. So why do I like it so much? It's beautiful. I don't love greenery and gardens. I dislike posing with flowers and trees. But I'm a sucker for water and open skies. I first discovered it when I only had Snow and I would take her here and run with her.

Lastly, we took a trip to the ever so popular Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. It's only a 25 minute drive from Palmdale and parking was pretty plentiful. We didn't actually go into the actual reserve because dogs aren't allowed, fair. So we hung out around the surrounding area which was covered in a sea of poppies. My dad loved the nature stroll with our dogs.

I'm not saying Palmdale is a hot spot for travelers, ha. But you never know!

DTLA: Chimney Coffee

If you haven't checked out this BOMB cafe, you're totally missing out. Seriously. Their menu ranges from incredible breakfast sandwiches (see below) to matcha brick toast (also see below).

Another MUST order item is their cheddar scone. They aren't made in house but they are literally the best savory scones I've had. Willy and I had to fight each other for crumbs.

CHINO: Unicorn Shakes at CakedLA

Lately the food scene has been exploding with shock value photos. Unicorn smoothies, Hot Cheetos blasted burritos, rainbow grilled cheese - to name a few. Caked LA invited me to their Chino location and I put their menu items to the test!

I think their items are beautiful for photography. I will say I was a bit disappointed with the milkshake because it literally tasted like blended milk. Not a lot of flavor. I was hoping for something a bit sweeter. The decorations and cookies were yummy!

The donut on top of the milk green tea drink was sadly dry. The drink itself was good but the sheer amount of popping boba was overwhelming. I think the place has a lot of potential and with a few tweaks could be both beautiful and amazingly delicious.
